JDMvW
To an old East German camera collector, the amazing thing is the inclusion of some of them in the list. They are the Rodney Dangerfield of cameras, after all ;) Thanks and happy new year! m42dave
I always enjoy the tests and ads from these later editions. It's nice to know my Soligor T4 35/2.8 performed so well in their tests!
Mike Gammill
A lot going on in this back issue. Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year.
Julio Fernandez
I loved the collector's article. The guy had an impressive collection, awesome if one realizes how different things were before the Internet, even in a large city with lots of camera shops. An uncommon appreciation of Russki glass and hardware. Several well known friends in the 47 top list. Those one-page reports are nice introductions to the features and handling. Thanks Marc and Happy New Year!

Sandy Vongries
Why would you choose to re-visit Photography as it was more than 50 years ago? Possibly because a good few of us were there as adults taking photos. There are both old and new Good Times! Speaking for myself, lots of the gear I used then is still in use, working perfectly.
DrBen
Why would you choose to re-visit Photography as it was more than 50 years ago? Could interest people interested in the history of photography, archeology, anthropology, cultural trands, etc. I was 16 in 1968 and a regular reader of MP, so for me, it’s nostalgia. “What’s past is prologue.” —Shakespeare (“The Tempest”) In contemporary use, the phrase stands for the idea that history sets the context for the present.

And plenty of us who weren’t there then (well, I was there, but doing 10 piece jigsaws) are now shooting film, so it is a good education.
chuck909
the 1968 issue brings back lots of memories. I had an SRT101 (to replace a stolen SR1s) and my buddy had a Spotmatic. We both envied each other's camera. The two of us spent the whole summer of 68 just burning film. Girls were secondary. I wish I could remember what I did with that 101. I know I sold it, but why and to whom? And the Rapid M. My wedding camera. Back then, 10 rolls of 120 were just about right for each event (with a roll or two of 35mm just in case). Hmm, was it Vericolor I used then? I shake my head when I hear that today's digital wedding photographers shoot way more than 1000.
