Sony DSC RX100 V - HFR Remote control

On the web there are several unanswered question related to remote control for Sony DSC RX100 in HFR mode.

I was involved in creation of a movie from an explosion. My method included a laptop, and a Atomos recorder for viewing the RX100 V screen from a safe place. On the web there is an older camera remote application for Mac and Windows that can be used to activate the record button. I did setup the camera to start the recording from the buffer backwards. So the last 4 seconds in the buffer are written to the SD Card from memory when the record button is pressed. I pressed the record button from the Camera Remote Application on the laptop.

The camera was connected to the laptop with a USB cable on one side, and the USB-C connector on the other side.

It might look a bit complicated, but i could not find remote controllers that would allow me to do this.

Being able to see the camera user interface live is very important to ensure the camera is buffering the images before the action takes place. instead of the Atomos device you can also connect another display via HDMI, i used what was available.

I hope the above helps people that want to trigger the RX100 in HFR mode with a remote solution.

I have the RX100 V and have been trying to find a way to get HFR videos of explosions at work. Problem is that we have to be so far away due to the size of the detonations and it can take 10 - 20 min from when I set up the camera and before we fire the shot. Is there a way to hook up the camera via USB than remote into the laptop/tablet via the internet?
