daniel_johnson6
Hi all, I recently acquired a new D750 and MB-D16 grip. These were both brand new. I'm having trouble with the MB-D16, however, as the shutter button on it doesn't seem to do anything. The multi-selector functions properly, as do the command and sub-command dials. But the shutter button doesn't take pictures, or focus, or wake up the camera. What am I missing? Thanks.
peterbcarter
Is it locked (turned off) ?
ShunCheung
Yeah, is there a lock on that? That was the first thing that came to my mind.
peterbcarter
On mine (different model) it is the rimg around the extra shutter button.
Sandy Vongries
Here is a link to the manual for the MB-D 16 Nikon | Download center | MB-D16 . Every Nikon battery grip on my film cameras and the one on my D7200 has a lockout to avoid accidental triggering - be surprised if yours doesn't have the same. Unfortunately I have never needed a battery grip for my D 750 so cannot speak with absolute certainty. Best of luck - since new, you should still be under warranty in any case. daniel_johnson6
There is a lock, but that doesn't seem to be the problem. With the lock activated, none of the controls work. With the lock off, everything works except the shutter button. I've gone through the camera and grip manuals, and looked through the menu, but I can't find anything there. I've removed the grip and reinstalled it a few times, still nothing. I haven't gone so far as to clean the electrical contacts; that seemed overkill since it was brand new. Kind of at a loss here. Sandy Vongries
Kind of at a loss here. I'd go to a camera shop if you have one near and see if your grip works on another D 750 or if another grip works on yours. If that isn't an option, rent a grip? Return the grip under warranty? The camera will work without the grip - I've never run through a fresh battery in the D 750 in a single day, though I always have at least one spare. On the digital cameras, I don't know how useful the grips actually are - unless you have unusual needs, return it for credit and move on? I am sure it will all work out given time & patience! ShunCheung
I would clean the electronic contacts just to be sure, but most likely you are looking into a return and exchange, since this MB-D16 is new.
