brian_louie1
I'm looking into getting a Canon Angle Finder A2 for my New F-1 and I wanted to ask if it's compatible with the body. I also wanted to ask if I need the S adapter or if that's only if I want 2x magnification. Ideally I'd get the Angle Finder B but the A2 is cheaper and I'm just a student. Thanks in advance. gordon_yee
The F-1 (old and new versions) are the only Canon FD/FL mount SLRs with round eyepieces. All of the others have rectangular ones. The "S" or square adapters are for rectangular eyepieces, while "R" refers to round adapters for the F-1. The basic B2 Angle Finder is threaded and attaches directly to the F-1's finder. I believe the A2 version is the same in this respect. For use on a rectangular eyepiece, you need to add the "S" adapter which slides onto the rectangular eyepiece. If you buy a finder with the S adapter, simply remove it before attaching the finder to your F-1. My experience has been that used B2 finders don't necessarily sell for much more than an A2. The correct right-to-left orientation on the B2 is much easier on the eyes.
airds
Anyone got a spare Adapter S &/or Adapter Ed-II (for various EOS's) for sale? Cheers
dirk_dom1
Hi,Brian. I have two angle finders B (Which produce a straight image) I can let you have one, without the adapter for rectangular vierwfinder. It will fit the F1. Mail me the price you want to pay for it, I do have to tell you that the angle finder is somewhat difficult to use in the field. Bye, Dirk. gordon_yee
David, I don't have a spare Adapter S, but I have a generic version that has the same functionality. It's actually what's left of a generic eyecup after the rubber eyecup was torn off. You're welcome to it. Email your mailing address to me and I'll mail it to you. fitzmunoz
I don't know anything about the A-2 model but I have a B model. I read so many contradicting reviews about the Model B. The model B is great, it fits on my New F-1 (I read somewhere that it won't but it does). With the adapter "S" it will fit on my A-1, AE-1 program, Rebel T3i, EOS 1v and 5D mark II. Hope this info helps.
chuck909
I too have the B for my F1s. It came with the "S" adapter for the Ftb, A-1, etc. Price wise not much difference between the A and B, The B is the way to go as the eye piece adjusts (not sure about the A), and the image is NOT reversed as with the A

JDMvW
Although be sure to check that any angle-finder will show the image right side up and rightside to right. Some cheaper ones have a mirror instead of an erecting prism.
