matthew_peretz3
I would appreciate any opinions on a lightweight monopod that I can mount my Agfa Billy Record II on. I'm able to spend up to $75. I don't need any fancy features. Just want it to be sturdy, semi lightweight and fold up easily. I plan to do some light walking and hiking. Thanks in advance for your time and help.
Jochen_S
Understanding issue: Is it meant to be backpacked and only hold your camera? Or supposed to serve as a walking stick too? How tall aren't you? Since I am 1.89m I recently bought a Benro C49T (5 section, 54.5 - 185.5cm 0.72kg, 25kg load rating). I simply hated that my previous one was shorter than handholding, which isn't handy when you intend to shoot stages over a crowd's heads. AFAIK there are Nordic walking sticks with a tripod thread on top of them. - I assume they are handy for landscape photographers. Before Benro I had a Soligor. It has 4 sections is thinner and lighter has lever locks and feels a bit better in hand. I had to patch the lowest segment lock with a hose clip. Bill Bowes
Hello everyone. On Ebay you will find either the Polaroid or Bower brands of monopods, usually under $25 USD delivered. They only have a fixed 1/4 " screw mount so you would need a ball head for verticals with the Billy. Get the 72" model. I use several of these (Polaroids) for my 35mm, 6x6 or 6x9 folders & think they would fit your needs. The Polaroid can also double for a walking stick.
