bobpeters
I have Compur Rapid #00 shutter that has a "long" screw, screwed into the shutter release. The shutter has the Carl Meyer 90mm in it. Would the barrel on the screw be used for a shutter solenoid, and were Burke & James cameras available with a solenoid or a mechanical remote release? The shutter is from 1947, and is mounted on a Busch Pressman Model C style Quick change lensboard. Would it be possible to make an adapter for a cable release that engages with that screw barrel? thirteenthumbs
Please post a picture of the shutter/release. Solenoids could be mounted to any 2x3, 3x4, 4x5 or larger camera that the use of a flash synchronizer was employed.
bobpeters
I just took these now. It looks like it has a PC socket, and a shutter release is towards me in the 2nd picture.
thirteenthumbs
Yes that is a PC socket and a factory standard screw in the release with a slot for the hook link used in conjunction with a solenoid.
thirteenthumbs
You will likely have to mount a cable release socket to the lens board with a flat bar at the base that presses on the shutter release when the cable is pressed as the cable end will likely slip off the release. dan_fromm2
As thirteen thumbs has already pointed out, what the OP takes for a cable release socket is a PC socket. The shutter doesn't have a cable release socket. If it did, the cable release socket would be behind the shutter release lever. Lenses on boards for 6x9 Horseman cameras are usually in shutters that have no cable release socket. OP, scurry over to eBay.com and look at some of them. They'll give you ideas about how to make a cable release holder that mounts on the board. Hint: if you do it yourself, you'll need a very long throw cable release. I was thinking a lot like that.
