cecily_lafrance
Hi, I'm new to the photography world, and I'm trying to decide between a nikon D5200 kit, and a Canon EOS rebel T5 kit. I would love to be able to eventually take photos at concerts and sporting events, and also scenery photos. Any help would be fantastic. Thanks :)
AJG
Both cameras should be good starter cameras and would also work for your other intended purposes, perhaps with a lens upgrade when you decide to get more serious about a specific area of photography. If you can, go to a store and try both of them before you buy to make sure that they feel right in your hands and that the menu system/camera controls make sense to you. Both cameras are capable of good results but you may find one fits you better than the other.
black_silver
I'm a Nikon digital/film camera user myself. But, if I were starting out again I would seriously think about getting a mirror less camera. The lens style QX1 E mount camera by Sony especially, because it then opens up usage to Zeiss lenses. With full auto abilities, that the ZF.2 lenses lack. And one uses a cell phone or mini tablet as the remote viewer. Which would come in handy in a crowded concert. black_silver
One can rent cameras and lenses from borrowlenses dot com. Try before you buy. Adorama rents as well.
daniel_smithson
The best beginner Nikon would be the D7100, it is currently on sale. Beginner kits are a waste of money, although they make it easy, the 7100 has a more dense pixel ratio than Nikons best camera the D810 and your money will be better spent here than on the 5200. http://www.nikonusa.com/en/nikon-products/product/dslr-cameras/d7100.html With the 7100 you will spend a little more, for a lot more quality......
