andrew_spence1
its a great camera
it might be out of date for a lot of you but its so so easy to set and use
and fits in my hands really well
I thought it was only supposed to be aimed at the general public bridge camera market with its descriptive
menu settings but there are all the familiar standard Digital SLR settings too for the more involved photographer.
The Art filters and scene modes are nice and ill make good use of them.
It only took me an evening to work out how it works and I didn't need the manual
Its a nice compact camera and will be easy to carry around in a bag of manual lenses
or just on its own in a waist bag
It looks good with an fd or om lens on the front
It will go well with my EOS 550, and Lumix G1
I didn't actually need this camera I just wanted one ,and now ive got it I can think of many uses for it
alongside my other digital and film cameras
The image stabilizer made an annoying sound so I fixed it by switching it off ,I wont use it anyway.
Im really going to have fun and enjoy using it and to me that's the point o and taking good photos to I suppose
Regards Andrew
machts gut
The E-PL1 was my first m4/3-camera. It produces sharp pictures with very pleasing jpgs. I sold it in favour of a G3, but still have many prints of the Oly hanging on my wall. With an fd or om lens the image stabilizer is really excellent. I miss it on my G3. I really would suggest to give it a try.
Peter_in_PA
I'm also brand new to µ43. Got a great deal on an old E-PM1 with kit lens (so cheap I couldn't not buy it, it was basically cheaper than buying just the lens used... yes... wow...), and liked it so much that I got an EM-5, the cheap 40-150 zoom, and proceeded to sell all my Nikon gear (D90 and a bunch of lenses I kept my old 55mm f3.5 and am getting an adaptor... and I still have to sell my SB-600 flash yet) as I get ready to add a prime or two to the setup. I just won't shoot that big stuff anymore. that simple.

The image stabilizer on my EM-5 makes some noise, but works REALLY REALLY well so I'm not afraid to use it when I need to.

Bottom line... It's ultra portable, which is what I need right now in my life, and it takes way better photos than my D90 did. I could have upgraded the Nikon stuff, but to be honest... even the smallest of their DSLRs is too small for my messenger bag, so µ43 won.
arnabdas
The E-PL1 was my first ever mirrorless body. I had tons of fun with adapted lenses!
