hugh_sakols
I can't believe one can't post a link to their latest work here on photo.net. It was not always that way. Really we can only talk about fanboy Nikon vs Canon. Let's discuss photography! Is this a misunderstanding on my part or can I not post a link to my work? If so why?
bobatkins
You can post a link in context when replying to a question or you can post links in the http://www.photo.net/members-photo-news-forum/ members photo news forum if you have news to share - but you can't just post for self promotion. If that was allowed we'd simply be flooding by people posting links to their work and their websites just to advertise and attract viewers. You can post your webpage link in your profile, so anyone who wants to see your work can post on your name.

You can also post your latest work right here on photo.net and you can request critiques on it. You can also post to the "No Words" forum http://www.photo.net/no-words-forum/ or to the regular weekly image thread found in several forums (Nikon< Nature, Canon EOS to name just three).

See http://www.photo.net/info/guidelines/ especially noting items #1 and #2

What you can't do is use photo.net to promote and advertise your own website, for example by posting a thread that says "Here are some of my pictures".
hugh_sakols
Sorry I sounded so harsh. I now understand what you're saying. I just miss the old days when there was more sharing for the sake of art. I will be more mindful in the future.
bobatkins
I think photo.net has tried to provide mechanisms for sharing via the weekly forum image threads and the no-words forum - in addition to the critique forum and regular gallery postings. It's much easier to discuss an image on the site than an offsite image referenced by a link.

I think there is actually more photosharing now than there was in the "old days" and more mechanisms to share then there used to be.

I don't have a full list of all the forums that have a weekly image thread, but they include Nikon, Canon EOS, Sony/Minolta, Pentax, Leica, Olympus, Mirrorless, Nature and Street and Documentary. I'm guessing there may be others too. They all provide a good place to share your work with others. Those weekly threads are usually very popular, in fact they typically have more posters in them than any other threads.

The http://www.photo.net/members-photo-news-forum/ Members Photo News forum was created specifically as a place where members could reference new work, though as yet it hasn't seen much traffic. It's for posting news of personal exhibits, publications, gallery shows and new websites.
