scarlet_brown
I am very impressed with these self portraits that are eye caching and captured very professionally. I want to share one self portrait i hope you like it.
Moderator's note: Photo removed. As per photo.net's Terms of Use, please do not post photos that are not your own. frederick_beranger_ernst
awesome link, thanks. some of these are so interesting, I guess I feel like these portraits dont have the same feel than the ones people do now. You are raising a good point.
At this time, i feel like people are so self involved, so self centered that they only want to look good while doing selfies. It seems like people of my generations (born late 60's) want to be heard, seen, acknowledged at all time. They can not live anonymously. The need to post about themselves on Facebook, twitter and the selfies are flying all over.
Back then, it was an art, the photographer is working with the image, the composition. His motives are artistic rather than self-centered. Of course, we all have some of that in us but some of these are raw, we can feel the artist soul and intimacy in a subtle way.
mike dixon
"I guess I feel like these portraits dont have the same feel than the ones people do now." That's probably because these were taken by photographers who were knowledgeable about the medium and took it seriously rather than people just recording a moment to share with their friends. A recording of a professional (or even serious amateur) musician is going to have a much different feel than people singing in a karaoke bar.
