steve_rasmussen
I am aware of the X series cameras having film rendition modes but is this the only series that offer this? Do any of their other cameras have this feature?
martynas_photo
Yes, other cameras from Fuji have this option as well. Well, at least my Finepix F70EXR does, and it was manufactured before any of the X series cameras.
r.t. dowling
Unfortunately these modes look nothing like the films they're named after.

lachaine
I have these on my XF1. I bought it in August, so of course, it's already obsolete. Still, I don't imagine these color things have changed too much. Forget about film-like simulation. Think of them more as labels for different color behaviour by the camera. Decide which one you want. If it was me, I would not buy a camera on that basis. They are pretty meaningless.
bill_tuthill
As implied above, all the F and HS series cameras have this. I'd say colors do look like the films, except Astia has more shadow contrast than the film. I find Astia useful for cloudy days - it warms up the color balance compared to Provia. I also like Velvia for autumn scenery and landscapes. The X cameras with interchangeable lenses have even more film emulations, and the basic three seem somewhat different, but I cannot provide a summary. tom_christiansen
The X-Pro1 (and presumably others in the X series) have:

Standard (= Provia)
Astia
Velvia
Pro negative, high contrast (= NPC 160)
Pro negative, standard contrast (= NPS 160)
B&W
B&W with filters (yellow, green, red)
B&W with sepia tone

I'm surprised no camera manufacturer includes B&W with yellow-green filter. That was one of the most used filters for film photography.

~Tom
