New NJ Camera Show

Recommended Posts

The Second Sunday Camera Show in NJ ended a few months ago. Yesterday many of the same sellers and buyers met at a show in Hasbrouck Heights, also in northern NJ. It was nice to see the familiar faces. I saw some interesting items and bought a few too. The first item that caught my eye was a Canon L D focusing screen for the F-1 and F-1n. It's brighter than the standard D (grid type) screen. This one was new old stock so I added it to my collection. The next item was an Olympus OMG. It goes with my unorthodox collection of Olympus OM bodies which includes three OM-10s, an OM PC and two OM2000s. I guess I'm more interested in the Zuiko lenses than the bodies. Eventually I will get a body with interchangeable screens so I have something more suitable for use with a bellows. The next item was the February 1966 issue of Modern Photography. I saved the most interesting piece for last. It's a 45/2.8 GN Nikkor in beautiful condition (no shade). I already had the C version of this lens but the C version has a seven aperture blades. The earlier model has nine blades and is supposed to have better out of focus rendition at certain aperture settings and in certain situations. It's attached to a black Nikkormat FT2 with a roll of CVS (Fuji) 200 color print film inside. I will try to take some more test shots today.

They gave me a card with the following: New York - New Jersey Camera Shows Stan Vogel PHONE 732-657-4225, CELL 954-224-2327. I heard two different things about future possible shows: The next show may be in the same general ares of NJ but at a different hotel and the next show or some future show may be in New York (Manhattan). There is no e-mail address or website information on the card. On the front of the card mailed to me with the show information there is this information: NY/NJ Camera Shows, Inc LLC 861A Winshester Court Manchester, NJ 08759.

I wish I had known about the new show. If it was at the Holiday Inn, I live about 150 feet behind it!

edit- I found the website- nynjcamerashows.com but it only had a flyer advertising a show they did May 19 in Totowa NJ at another Holiday Inn. The site states they are trying to bring back the NJ camera show and want vendors.

If you also go to www.showsandexpos.com which are the guys that did the Second Sunday Camera Shows, it shows they are now doing a CD/Records show at the location in Wayne on the second sunday of the month.
They have a link to add your name to keep advised as to when the next camera show will be and where. They show none scheduled at this time.
