Thanks. --Sally
Finland Rocks!, from the southernmost tip in the Baltic Sea to Lappland, north of the Arctic Circle, Sally Mack's new exhibit of color photographs explores Finland.
When: January 2, 2014 - January 31, 2014
Where: The Faculty Club, UC Berkeley campus
phone: 510.540.5678
e-mail: info@berkeleyfacultyclub.com
URL (hours and directions): http://www.berkeleyfacultyclub.com
Who: Sally Mack, photos@sallymack.us
What: color photographs of beautiful Finland

The construction of the Bengtskar Lighthouse, built on a skerry in the Baltic Sea, was completed in 1906. The lighthouse has six rooms to accommodate guests. There's nothing else there, the lighthouse, a few small outbuildings, sea-washed rocks, water, and the marvelous light. Sally Mack photographed the rocks, reflections, and light on this tiny island.

The village of Inari in Lappland provided the setting for the frost pictures. Taking one last walk along the river, armed with only a small digital camera, the sunshine back-lighting the frosted lingonberry leaves proved too much to resist photographically. It provided a wonderful ending to the trip.

No photos of Finland would be complete without some of the marvelous forests. In Lappland, they're said to house elves small enough to live under rock outcroppings. Some of them are deemed to be magical. And Helsinki, with its long history and cultural amenities, has some wonderful nature preserves and reserves.

The photos in the exhibit can be seen on Sally's website at Finland Rocks!, http://www.sallymack.us/

Please contact Sally Mack with any questions or comments. Comments always welcome. All photos are for sale. Thanks. Enjoy the exhibit!
--Sally Mack
