Minolta XK back

<p>So, this is for vintage Minolta users - I want to refurb the seals on a recently acquired XK, a task that will be more easily achieved with the film door removed. Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to remove the door. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks. DC.</p>

<p>You have to push the rod out off the hinge to remove the back. This might require some force though.</p>

<p>The hinge pin is not easily removed. For earlier Minoltas, carefully peel up the leatherette along the end of the body (not the door). Underneath you'll find the chromed flange for the hinge. On the XK, there are 4 small phillips-head screws holding this flange on. Undo the screws, the back door will come loose.</p>

<p>You'll need a good contact cement, or similar, to re-apply the leatherette. </p>

<p>I don't find doing the job <em>that</em> much easier with the door off. I did an XE and an SRT 102 without having to remove the door. YMMV</p>

<p>I've done heaps of SR-T 101's, they take about half an hour once you become proficient. No need to remove the film door, just mask the shutter aperture with a rectangle of paper and sellotape. Here are some instructions:</p>
