stemked
Hi All.
I just thought some of the readers here might be interested in a new show on (at least our)local) PBS station (those of you with cable may already know of the show). It's called "Wild Photo Adventures" and the main photographer is Doug Gardner. It is quite different from Art Wolfe's "Travels to the Edge". So far I have only seen one episode of Gardner's show, but it is more technical with Gardner telling you how he is getting the shot, how he is working an animal, problems that he is encountering with the shot, what he is having to do with the exposure, etc. He talks about compromises he has to make and he is really "in the moment", stalking a Moose he and his guide are keeping quiet, there isn't the wild exuberance you have on Wolfe's show, more rather it's like one of those hunting shows you may have watched as a kid. Because of their different styles, the shows complement each other well; definitely Wolfe's show is the slicker of the two shows and goes to exotic locations whereas Gardner's is the more technical. I have to admit I'm really glad to see two Nature Photography shows on at the same time.
If you have happened to have seen more of the episodes or have a different take on either of these two shows (or any other interesting Nature Photography shows) I'd love to hear about it.

Cheers,

Doug
augphoto
I have seen many of his episodes on TV. They are great and I'm always disappointed at the end that they don't last longer.
If he' not on your local channel you can see many of his episodes on his web site, also.
http://www.wildphotoadventures.com/.

charles_m1
It's also a new show in my area too. So far, I've only seen 3 episodes, the moose one, the spring wild flowers one and the storm chasing one.

I enjoy the show too. He tells us how he made the shot and what he is thinking when making the shot. He doesn't just provide the formula, he tells us how we can adjust his techniques to our own unique situations.
michaeljlawson
I bought the first season DVD (And a hat and T-shirt) when I first discovered this show on the web. I haven't seen it on TV on any of the Chicago area PBS stations yet. I haven't watched any of the 3rd season yet though, thanks for the reminder!
