jim_occi3
Greetings-

After 20+ years as a PC person I am finally going Mac after my Windows 8 machine crashed...again. Only 14 months old too. Lost files, software etc.

So I'm currently using a Macbook pro ca 2009 or so (OSX 10.6.8). I'm trying to download Aperture for purchase and it says "This link needs to be opened with the iPhoto App.
So then iphoto opens and it asks "Do you want to subscribe to this feed?"
Then it says something about item or feed unavailable.

Anyone ever see this before?
Thanks-
Jim
walter_degroot
If yoiu have the microsoft security running yoiu shoud be well protectred.
if someone in your familsy visitsa chancy sithes like my brother-in-lar danger is possible or likely
the data on the drive may still be recoverable.
if you are sure there ius no virus.
attach the crashed drive to another system and copy the data files to another drive.
it is quite often the ability to BOOT from the drive that is the problem not a drive that has failed mecanically.
restore the operating system. and copy back the recovered data temporarily stored on other media.
the programs cannot be resited, this all went away at the end of the DOS era.
now programs are installed in several places as well as a registry entry and cannon simply be copied.

windows explorer is very hard for me to see.
a good filme manager like ztree. can let you copy files IN PATH
to other drives of sd cards. ( not cd/dvd)
so when you have a working win 8 installed.
you can restore data files
chrisnielsen
Ok so 'download for purchase' doesn't sound right to me - somehow you've got a weird link that is not what you think it is - you need to use the Mac App Store program on your computer - it's normally on the dock unless you have removed it. You then simply search for Aperture and click the BUY button beside it and it will download itself automatically.

Edit: I think your OS might be too old - you probably don't have access to the App Store, you are 3 major versions behind. If your computer is suitable I would look at upgrading to OSX 10.9, that may be the only way to get into the App Store. 10.9 is free but you need to check compatibility.
Edit 2: Looks like Aperture needs OSX 10.9 as a minimum, sorry to give you bad news.
keith_b1
Apple, Aperture, App Store, and the functionality of downloading Aperture will like it better if you "upgrade" to Mavericks(10.9) which is free.
Double check that it'll work with your Mac:
Apple menu, About this Mac, More Info, System Report, Model Identifier= some number like "5.2"; This is the actual, exact model of Mac that you have.
