johnfarrar
...and thordly one from a week ago; the mountains here have been extensively mined and quarried, and this is an abandoned slate quarry in a far higher and more exposed place than I'd want to work every day. But the quarrymen were a hardy lot.

GerrySiegel
Test of Elinchrom Skyport RF trigger set the other day Sanford. It works, it really works.... Lighting was a how not to do it example and that counts for something. Key light was a 400 ws strobe dialed way way down in 12" shoot through Photoflex cheap umbrella ( too narrow to get soft portrait effect) and on the left of me a Lastolite round reflector too far away and oh so crappily angled to do much as fill at all but I shook out the mothballs. Got me a chance to see if these little tiny toy like Elinchromes are worth anything. They are. I used an included mini3.5 phono plug on leash to full size phono plug jack on my pack and the transmitter atop hot shoe to fire off the Panny GH 2 and sort of looking into the LCD facing me.
Lens was the 14-45 mm, and on 10 second delay...I hate shutter delays ya know, it is like waiting for the stab of the lab techs syringe:-) I want a RF transmitter to go into the camera, can't find one that I would trust yet...
Oh and no one else was willing to be the victim that day so I volunteered me. Goal was to get my lights checked out capacitors recharged and relearn how to use the (incomprehensible defied man and beast ) old Minolta Flashmeter IV, Which works fine in non cord mode but hard to see the display, still works though in incident mode.
Exposure was about F 6.3 and I shot at 1/60 to get some ambient light, no time to dither with that one. Next time I will use the bigger umbrella and put the Lastolite circle onto a stand and actually aim. And, most of all, maybe entice a more alluring model, he or she with or without the Borsalini felt /Adjustment Bureau style fedora :-)
