mpd
At the end of March I will be traveling from the States to Nepal and trekking to Everest Base Camp. I would like to explore purchasing insurance for my gear even though I do not anticipate it leaving my side. I checked with the company that Photo.net recommends but they do not do international. I found one post that suggested Hill & Usher in Az. I have emailed them. Now I am looking for additional companies.
Does anyone else have suggestions of companies that might provide this type of insurance? I would be particularly interested in your personal experiences in purchasing this type of insurance.
Thanks,
pat

mariosforsos
Not being a US resident, I cannot offer a suggestion, but I will caution you towards this: whichever you end up choosing as your provider, make sure you disclose EVERYTHING to them and then make sure your policy specifically covers that. The last thing you want is the insurance company avoiding payment based on some stupid minor technicality like, say, "oh, you were insured for up to 5000 ft, but you were at 5001 and so we cannot honor the agreement" (don't laugh, something as ridiculous as this HAS happened)...

But it has to be better than nothing

By the way I have not heard back from either of the two carriers I emailed.

pat
