jakenorcross
10-12,000 images; Most all of them scans from film negatives ((eight one-inch binders full)). It's a mix of art school, personal, portrait work, and science/microscopy imaging that lives on a working drive (100gig external called "Phylo"), a 350gig backup drive, 20-some DVDs, and my Powerbook's hard drive... all organized by a single, handwritten volume and numbered by book and page (and roughly, thus, the order in which they are taken). One hard drive is off-site, in my lab- the DVDs will soon be offsite as well.
The digital files are numbered just like their corresponding negatives... such as "8-20", a pair of camera tests from a Kodak Brownie... which is entered into the index file as such. I came up with this system when nothing would stay in order- now all the same files have the same name, no matter the format.
