Buying t2i internationally from B&H with a wire transfer

Recommended Posts

I can't talk about B&H, but I have done four international wire transfers and only 1 went well. One took over two weeks. Two took over a week. You are dealing with B&H and at least two banks. B&H is not the weak link, the banks are.
I had a wire transfer not show show up for a week and the company faxed me the paperwork showing me they had paid the bank. A full week later, (two weeks total) it showed up at my bank.
Wire transfers can suck, international wire transfers are almost guaranteed to be a headache. I have never used B&H, but my money is on the the banks involved as your problem, and they will NEVER admit they screwed up.
Just my $0.02.

Jean Pierre: I' am mexican buyer who has purchased from Adorama and B&H since the dark ages. Never had an issue. At least for me, a perfect record. Maybe I've been lucky.
Before internet, I used to set my order via fax but always used my CC. Now with the internet is simpler. With a new credit card, they usually ask me for a copy (image) of my CC both sides. My billing addres is in Mexico but I usually ship to differnet addresses in USa as well as to Mexico.
Give them time, They are trustful and reliable. Try to use a credit card next time. Avoid wire transfers for peace of mind.

To Henry Posner: I just read the complete thread. I'm amazed on how easy some people get biased by devious news networks and ultra-right papers about the situation in Mexico. They show nothing but their complete ignorance of the abroad. Probably just a Glenn Beck fanboy. Thanks Henry for standing on Mexico.
To Jean Pierre: I live in Merida too. Actually I was born here but raised in other parts of Mexico and in the States. Give me a call. 953 3294

Hi Eduardo, good to hear of your good fortune with B&H. I started out by offering either a credit card or a paypal payment to make everything much easier, but they wouldn't allow it since it was for a different address. Maybe since you are a customer of theirs since a while, they allow you more freedom. Or maybe I was just badlucky and got bad salesman to begin with.

Anyways, by talking with Henry things are looking a lot more positive now. I won't have the camera as fast as I was hoping, but at least I'll have it when their next shipment comes in.

A note regarding B&H - I have done business with this company for at least five years now I believe, and have always had problems cleared up immediately. In fact, I ordered a Wein mini-to-PC sync cord for my off camera flash triggers as part of a larger order last month, and when the cord began to only fire intermittently after two weeks of use, I emailed B&H and the rep told me to just toss out the defective cord because he would be sending a new cord the next day.
And the next day, I had an invoice number for the replacement cord in my email inbox.

B&H is definitely legitimate. I have and will continue to do business with them specifically because of reps like Motti W(not on P.net, but he's the rep who replaced my cord) and Henry Posner, who go way above what's expected. So, thanks, Henry - I really appreciate your hard work.

I'm happy to report that my camera is ready to be shipped! Thank you incredibly much Henry for all your help in smoothing things out.
If anyone stumbles upon this post while trying to resolve an issue, I strongly suggest you contact Henry Posner, or ask sales or customer service to escalate the issue to a manager, they'll certainly do their best to resolve any issues.
We got off on the wrong foot, but now I consider myself as part of the myriad of happy B&H customers, and I will definitely buy from them again.
I don't think it's through luck that a large company like this one can gather such a strong horde of loyal customers, supporters, and fans.
Now if only photo.net would let me edit out some of my prior posts so I could neutralize some of the stuff out.

I'm late to this discussion, but I used a wire transfer to pay for my $6,000+ super tele lens from B&H two or three months ago. I saw the wire clear at my bank and then contacted a person in B&H accounting that confirmed receipt on their end and posted it to my account. Time from order to shipping was around 3-hours.

My bank is JP Morgan Chase and the wire was within the USA and I could track it online, minute by minute. A key to my success was talking directly to the lady that handled wires in the accounting department. She was very pleasant and seem to want to be helpful, which she was.

The tricks to wire transfer success are:

The B&H order/control number must be affiliated with the wire transfer so we can match the payment to the purchase.

The net amount of the wire transfer should match the balance due exactly.

That's it. Thanks.

Only on pnet do I see Glenn Beck's name evoked on a post about a digital rebel. Hilarious.

I just wonder why this is in the EOS forum, not the off topic or business review section.

i live now in mexico city and i like to buy at B&H a Pentax Kr or Kx (not sure yet). In mexico its impossible to get them, only grey market stuff without any warranty.
what is the best way to pay at B&H? Is it possible that my gfriend pays with her credit card and hands me the camera? how long does shipping take? and how about the warranty? I will go back to Europe next year so i need an international warranty... anyone have experience with that?
thanks for your help and attention.
p.s. by the way Mexico is great. merida or mexico cit has not much to do with the problems in the north... my 3rd time in mexico. in total iam now almost 2 years here. never got robbed or attacked...

B&H accepts MasterCard, Visa, Discover and AmEx. We also, as this thread has amply dissected, accept wire transfer. Your girlfriend can order under her name and when she gets the camera, simply reship to you or hand it to you, depending on circumstances. If she pays, she has to be the bill-to person. The specifics on shipping depend on whether she is in Mexico or in the USA. You can get more details on this from our site or from an email to sales@bhphoto.com.
