nancy_scott1
I have a Kodak Six-16 Camera, but need help in figuring out exactly which type it is. It has the octagonal faceplate. The lens says Kodak Anastigmat F-6.3 126mm. It also says Kodak No.1 Diodak Shutter Made in USA. Can anyone tell me more about this model and what it might be worth? Is it one of the Art Deco types which was mentioned in an earlier post? It has the banana-shaped metal part
john_shriver
The name is normally in the bed, which is the tray that opens that the lens is above.
If it has an octagonal panel on the front of the shutter, and a version of those on the sides, that's the first "deco" Kodak 616 camera. http://licm.org.uk/livingImage/K616imp.html
Kodak cameras were, for the most part, the very definition of "mass produced". Common, common, common. There are very few Kodaks that are really "valuable".
The lens is decent, but the Diodak shutter is rather low end. It's not until you get to Kodak Kodamatic and Supermatic shutters that you get to the professional grade shutters. Value is probably in the $10 to $30 range, depending on what shape the lens and bellows are in.
