frank_brus
I have exactly the same problem - how can Panasonic not cover thus under warranty. My screen is absolutly pristine - no sign of any pressure - just picked up the camera, switched it on and wham! screen was stuffed.

hernan_precht
As SIMON YU, I´ve had the same, exactly the same bad experience. I live in Chile, and my cameras are for year in pretty good shape for years. I had never had a problem like this with NIKON COOLPIX, CANON and FINEPIX I own. 2 Weeks ago I bought teh LUMIZ ZS3 from AMAZON and after 8 days of carefull use, with a proper and foamy bag, the screen broke, all of a sudden.
Panasonic is not aware of this issue like TOYOTA or GM are, and they should state publicly that this cameras would be repalced, and reformulate it´s design to prevent SCREEN DAMAGE.

frank_brus
Took my ZS3 to Panasonic official repairer who stated Panasonic insist it was a user fault. Repair cost is almost the cost of a new camera!
rob fetter
I have a slightly different question, but thought it still may be worth asking in this forum. I bought a Lumix ZS3 three months ago, used it happily for two months, and then accidentally left it unattended for about five minutes, during which a young dog decided it was a fun toy and gnawed on it some - breaking the LCD screen. Clearly my fault - not the same category as the rest of you.

So I took it to a repair shop (not an authorized Panasonic shop - maybe a mistake) and they replaced the LCD screen for about half the price of the original camera... but did not replace the back cover, which still has the dog's bite hole in it. So now the camera has a brand new LCD screen, and a back cover with a bite hole in it. (Small, but present, and several cracks about 0.5-1 inch long in the vicinity of the hole.) (I didn't realize the shop wasn't going to repair both the back cover and the LCD screen, and they didn't make it clear until after they'd done the repair. Replacing both would cost essentially the same as the original cost of the camera.)

I now must decide whether to pay for the repair and take the camera, or just give up on that one and buy a new camera. The shop doesn't seem to care, so there is no moral issue. I asked the technician if there's a higher risk of damaging the LCD screen with the back cover damaged, and he basically said he doesn't know. Does anyone here have experience with this? My instinct is that of course there would be a higher risk, given the sensitivity of the LCD screen, but does anyone have experience one way or the other?

Thanks, all.
