Marketing Yourself At Games

There are four local area high schools that I have been shooting at this year. While some of the parents know me, I would love to have more buying my photos.
Was thinking of having a black pull over sweet shirts made that said something like PHOTOGRAPHER or just my name in big block letters.
Wanted to get my other photographers ideas to help us self promote.

If your business is branded or has a logo you have a better starting point. You can find local screenprinting companies that will work with you on a short run and put out a few hoodies or shirts.

I'm about to do all of this in a few weeks - we just got a graphic designer to create a business logo for us, and my wife recently started a job at a screenprinting business. So we'll get hoodies and stuff at cost, plus a one-time $15 setup fee.
saw this one guy running an ad on craigslist a while back selling stuff with "photographer working" on the back, available in 4 languages.. Wasn't that impressed, but it's an option.

The same place that did my 1000 business cards for $75 offered to do a 'small' 3 foot banner for a decent price sometime.. when I finally get around to getting a smugmug site set up to sell from, I wil probably take them up on that offer. Of course if you've got people shooting for you then the sweatshirt/hoodie idea would work well I'm sure. I'd rather not be noticed WHILE shooting as much as when done with the game I'm at, so the banner up (when given permission to do so) would be more what I'd look to do personally.

In the past I have made up small 3x5 flyers with company info, website and any other particulars. I may put a sample on also, then have my kids stand at the door and pass them out as people come in. Keeping the size small keeps the price down...works for me.

Same as Eric noted. I buy bright card stock from a Staples store and print 4 "cards" per page. and then cut. I place on ticket counter/table at games, on the booster club tabl, on the bleachers and hand out some. I assume that the school is letting you take pictures, right? If so ask if you get copy of your business card or make up flier to have printed in next news letter/school newspaper.

 • 3 weeks later...

UPDATE:
I took several of my best photos and put them on a 4x6 print along with my website and the heading ACTION PHOTOS. Walmart runs those 10 cent per 4x6 print specials so I had 50 made and had them on the ticket table at the last game. Saw a spike in my website hits the next few days... however no new sales :(
But talked to the local radio station that does the weekly games and they are doing to do this for me at $25.00 a game. 4 times during the live broadcast the play by play guy will say "Photos of tonights game are available at www dot my website name" Not sure how it will do, but looking forward to see how I do next week.
