mike_green13
Hi Robin, I shot alot of dungeon gym Basketball games and noticed a couple of things from your Flickr exif data. Your shutter speeds and aperture varied throughout? I approach each game the same.
With my 50 mm 1.4 lens go onto the court top of the key set the camera to manual 1/250 - 1/320, depending on the age of the kids, aperture f2.8 and photograph my left hand held up in a fist for my exposure. I then alter the ISO for an exposure that I am happy with. That is it for the technical. Now I am reading to shoot the game.
I use 2.8 because I shoot basketball with my 50mm and my 70-200mm 2.8 lens. I don't change a thing during the game and then post process the batch with one common adjustment.
One quick thing about basketball under the basket I have learned is do not put the camera down when you think the action has finished, wait a second or two, there might be more to come.
Hope this helps, Mike
