david_dalton1
I just found five Polaroid prints in a basement file.
Numbers or codes on the back are: Polaroid 2 M31344120.
I'm trying to figure out about when, give or take a couple years, the photos were taken. Is there anything from that information that could help?
Thanks!
aaron_muderick
To my knowledge, there is no publicly known code system for identifying the age of Polaroid prints based on the numbers printed on their backs. If you can measure the print size, whether it is coated, whether it is B&W or Sepia, you could determine what kind of film it was, and narrow down the age range.
ian_mazursky
Polaroid used to offer a service for law enforcement and lawyers to date the codes on polaroid prints.
It was an expensive service that could only date the manufacture date of that particular lot of film.
Im not sure they offer it anymore but the algorithm was never made public iirc.
