photojen
I noticed that the dates on my photos, from about a year ago, are wrong. I had a 'time/date' issue a while ago on my computer, and this may be the cause of this issue, though the 'dates taken' via my camera (I assume) are incorrect, as well. So, I am wondering if this is an issue for me and posting to PN, with out having the correct dates. I suppose that this is a minor issue, but a member emailed me saying that my dates on my photos that I post when uploading to PN, didn't match the dates on my EXIF data and that some PN members might give me flack for this. I put the correct dates on my file folders when I upload to my computer, and enter that date to PN when posting, so it's not the same as the dates on my EXIF.

JDMvW
Of course, if appropriate otherwise, you can "save for web" and the EXIF data will be scrubbed out, as well as having a much smaller file.
photojen
I would think it would be an issue, but being sort of new to PN, I just would like to know what Admin thinks...
Michael R Freeman

"I would think it would be an issue ..."

Not sure why it would be, but I'm sure if it is then either Josh or Bob Atkins will chime in eventually. With the exception of the "Search by caption" or "search by tags" functions, I think just about everything else that is date based ("sorts" for Top Photos, etc.) is based on the upload date , and that's a system generated date. I'm not sure if the "exposure" date that you enter when you upload the photo is actually used (or searchable) anywhere on the site.

tholte
"that some PN members might give me flack for this" I for the life of me number two don't know why anyone would care about the date. I think most most members care about good and interesting images.
photojen
I agree, but I got an email saying that some may give me flack over mis-matched dates, I don't know, I just shoot and post...I took his email as a kind 'warning' of sorts...just looking for clarification...
joshroot
I don't see it as an issue.

The only place where dates are an issue here are for stuff like the Monthly Project where the idea is to go out and shoot a photo for the project, not just to find an existing photo and upload it like a lazy person. Anyone doing that deserves the flack.
