Hello everyone,
I'm a new owner of a beautifull Linhof Technika. I've been looking on the web for informatons, and I must say that it's not easy!
So here I am, I bought it on ebay, from a guy who doesn't know a thing about it.. I'm a photographer assistant since few years, but mostly working with mamya, sinar, blad, Digital camera etc. I really had a crush on this camera, but I don't know much about it. I'm not even sure it's a Technica IV 6x9 B version. I think so but I don't know if it's the same than what it's called a baby Linhof.
It's wrote 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 as film size on the film holders. Is it totaly different from 6x9? is it 6X7?. When I mesure it, I find 52x79 centimeters for the inside view area, I'm lost here!
I only have film holders , and I'm looking for a roll back , but there is so many different names or size for them, I'm afraid to buy the wrong one.
I'm also looking for instructions, even a copy would be great.
I have so many questions that I'm confiused, not really used with forum eather..
So I'm really looking for help here, hope I'll find some without bothering anyone.
Excuse me for my bad english.
Thank's,
Céline

Hi! There are a few Linhof brochures and manuals on this site, as jpg scans of each page. I don't know Linhof well enough to tell if there's anything that will help you with your camera.

http://www.cameraeccentric.com/info.html

(scroll down to L for Linhof)

The 'Super Technika 6x9' manual gives its size as both 6x9 and also as 2 1/4 x 3 1/4. Actually, 3.25 inches is closer to 8 cm, not 9. I think I get 58 x 82 mm from my Graflex '23' roll holder.

Good luck!

The manual you are looking for can be found here - Click here

The Baby Technika is a fun, wonderful camera - the 6x9 rollfilm back is what you want, and I believe that all the rollfilm backs will fit on the babys, with a reduction back being used to make them work on 4x5.

Thank's a lot to all of you!
I found many info from the manual. I manage to tilt the back !

1/ I'd like to find a way to make the movements smoother, i'don't know if it's because of my tiny fingers or if the mecanic is griped, but it's really difficult to move the back. Is there anything I can do to make it easyer?

2/Also I went to the professionel shop in Paris and they don't sell any film at the right size (2 1/4x 3 1/4) for the holders what I thought when I bought it because I never saw any. How do you do? should I cut films? or do you know a shop where I can order some?

3/Focusing is weard in the back screan, I only see in a small circle spot, the rest is totally out of focus and seems like no matter what it will never be clear. There was a thin plastic frenel at the size of the glass witch was sticked on it with tape, I took it of but it doesn't change anything. I'm used to 4X5 Sinar focusing so I don't know, is that the same on yours or should I buy a new glass to focus with all the back screan?
Thanks again for your help

Freestyle sell it in the US; they seem to have some Efke and Ilford HP5 and FP4 (and Arista Edu, which I think is just Efke in a different box). The Ilford is 27 dollars for 25 sheets; the efke quite a bit cheaper.

http://www.freestylephoto.biz/sc_search.php?rfnc=404

Silverprint in the uk have Ilford cut film listed, but they don't have this size, and it looks like Ilford make it in small batches once a year:

http://www.silverprint.co.uk/ProductByGroup.asp?PrGrp=2249

On the Ilford site, you can download a pdf of stock availability at the factory

(available from this page: http://www.ilfordphoto.com/products/page.asp?n=11 )

In that list, 2.25 x 3.25 only appears in HP5, and is listed as 'non-stock' i.e. they don't have any at the factory. I guess this means Freestyle may be the only place you can get Ilford film.

However, Adox CHS100 (the same film as the Efke at Freestyle) is in the catalogue at FotoImpex in Germany:

http://www.fotoimpex.de/shop/filme/planfilme/adox-chs-100-25x3550-blatt-aktionspreis-abgelaufen-2007.html

This is CHS100, a good all-round film, expired (develop-by-2007); or there's CHS25; slower, obviously, and (if I remember right) ortho-panchromatic.

http://www.fotoimpex.de/shop/filme/planfilme/adox-chs-25-225x32550-blatt.html

Good luck!

Try cameraquest.com. for information on Linhof Technika 6x9/6x7. I have a 6x9 Linhof Tech 111, from the mid 1950`s which has black leather covering, later ones were tan. Finding sheet film will be difficult, I managed to buy the last stock of FP4 6.5 x 9 (Ilford cat # 1678352) from Ilford Australia. They did make FP4 in 21/4 x 31/4 (cat # 60AFM1C16/2-1), but I think this is no longer available. Check your film holders for size. Are they Graflex or Linhof, Graflex will be of wooden construction, least my 21/4 x 31/4 ones are, Linhof of metal, be sure to check the Linhof ones for light leaks, were the dark slide fits into the flip up ends. As for the dim image on the ground glass, check that you have the bellows extended to the right infinity stop and or the correct rangefinder cam fitted (cam # matches Lens #). Generally the image on the ground glass is fairly dim, unless another screen has been fitted. Great little cameras, giving fantastic negs/trannies, best of luck and enjoy your new toy.
