Haptic or Visual?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone.

Right now I am trying to become a better photographer through it's cenceptual value. I am doing reading on philosophy and theory. I would be thrilled if someone could take a look at my work here and comment if I lean more towards haptic or visual. What color keys if any. Figure or background. Any criticism at all is welcome.

Thank you,

Check out the critique forum. The way this site functions best is through give and take. So, once you've begun critiquing and commenting on the photographs of others, you should start receiving feedback. The more meaningful and thoughtful your comments to others are, the more meaningful and thoughtful comments you will get in return. As much as you will learn from others' critiques of your work, you will hopefully learn from critiquing the work of others, seeing what others are doing, and getting into dialogues with others about their and about your own work. Good luck on PN and with your photography.

As for haptic vs. visual in photography, isn't it the visual that is or would become haptic? I don't know if I see the opposition. Perhaps you could elaborate on what the difference would be and what kind of photograph would not lean toward the visual.

We didn't need dialogue. We had faces!

Haptic or Visual? An interesting topic.

"I would be thrilled if someone could take a look at my work here and comment if I lean more towards haptic or visual."

I think a print is the only way to determine that. I don't think jpegs on the web communicate the sense of touch.

"Haptic" means tactile, especially in relation to computers.

Your images are attractive, being properly exposed and colorful after all, and some are especially interesting (blurred motion), but they're not as intellectually fancy as "haptic" implies. In fact, they're not "haptic" at all...and they have no evidently related nature.

Most are routine theatric (semi-fashion..the guy with the cigar) , generic street lights at night, and the color/texture wallpaper of which most of us are occasionally guilty.

Turning your question around: What do you want to do? Are you responsible for your images?

...you seem to have asked us to tell you who you are.

Hell, it's hard enough for us to know who WE are: You are your own problem.

Your images don't suggest you're "drawn" toward anything at all ... I see risk aversion.

I don't mean to be unpleasantly critical...my own issues are even more absurd than yours are...
