mrraz
Since the recent overhaul of the site, I've noticed there is no longer a tab to view a shot larger. This is nuisance particularly when the poster says to view it larger. I won't say I'm not missing something, but I've tried every way to see these images in a larger presentation with no luck. A little help please.
joshroot
I'm guessing you haven't tried clicking on the image. Because that's what you need to do.
Norma Desmond
Most people don't try clicking on the image because, unless you've been told or see it in a forum, it's not an intuitive move even for savvy internet users and there's no such system-generated direction to be found anywhere near the photo. When it's important to me that people view my images larger (frankly sometimes it's vital but I think people tend to think it's always important, especially on their own masterpieces, when it's not), I either put a note saying "click on image to see it larger" as part of the title, or part of my critique caption or as a first comment I make on my own page. All those solutions are a bit cumbersome compared to the way it use to be, which seemed so easy and self evident. We didn't need dialogue. We had faces! joshroot
<i>"All those solutions are a bit cumbersome compared to the way it use to be, which seemed so easy and self evident."</i> <p> Really? The complaints about how hard the buttons was to see and click for those with less-than-perfect eyes disagreed with you. <p> Yes, we should advertise the method a bit better. But really Fred, you are starting to sound like Andy Rooney on 60 minutes. Everything was so much better in the past.
lex_jenkins
I was a bit curmudgeonly at first but kinda like the click-on-image thingie. It's consistent with several other websites now. In fact, the Zorro del Fuego browser defaults to a magnifying glass cursor when hovering over an image when there's an option for a larger view. Seems intuitive now. mrraz
Josh, Thanks for the simple solution. It never occurred to me to click on the image because there used to be a tab. The idea never crossed my mind. I probably missed the memo about the TSP Reports to. Don't be too hard on Fred. Everything in the past wasn't any better, then what's in the present. Just different. Norma Desmond
Josh-- I honestly have no idea what you're talking about regarding buttons and less-than-perfect eyes. I was suggesting providing users with information on how they could view an image larger, nothing more. I'm going to stop participating in site suggestion forums and stick to submitting photos, critiquing, and philosophy forums. --Fred We didn't need dialogue. We had faces! mrraz
All right Josh, I gave it a try, and it worked. However, why can't I enlarge an image once I've critiqued the shot? Glenn
sngreen
<em>I'm guessing you haven't tried clicking on the image.</em><br /> <br /> I think it would not be a bad idea to show the images in a size the photographer meant them to show and not in a size imposed by the site. But I also see how one size for all can help the site to look and be universally clean. <br /> <br /> In most of the image browsers clicking on the image (or double-clicking) usually returns the viewer to the folder (as one level above) and not to the larger version of it. Perhaps a little note "Click on the image to see it in a larger format" could be added as a hint, or cursor with the magnifying glass when over the image. Something along these lines.<br /> <br /> - sergey</p>
