Opera browser

This isn't a question but reporting a problem with Opera browser and Apple G5's. Since it's not

directly related to photography, it didn't seem logical to put it in Darkroom forum. Anyway, if you

haven't installed the latest version of Opera, v9.5, be careful. I updated my version and afterward

GoLive 9 didn't work, it wouldn't start after the open window and "Loading Rendering Libraries." CS3

PS, Bridge and other packages worked, but after going through all sorts of troubleshooting, I finally

uninstalled Opera and everything went back to normal. I sent an e-mail to Opera.

I realize not too many people use GoLive 9 (version 8 seems to be uneffected), but to those who

do, don't upgrade to Opera's browser.

I believe Adobe has licensed Opera's rendering engine, so users of Adobe applications that involve HTML rendering have been using Opera internals. What could thus be happening is that the Opera 9.5 installer updated or otherwise disrupted Adobe's version of the Opera engine.

I've been a devoted Opera user for years. But based on the unusual volume of complaints and criticisms about 9.5 in Opera's forums (and also from experience), I'm sticking with 9.27 for now. Perhaps I'll try 9.52 or 9.53, since major releases seem to take two or three maintenance versions to fully mature. I suspect they might have released 9.50 prematurely to get it out ahead of Firefox 3.
