photo_dark
Thanks for sharing david, what a great post! I love reading about what people are doing and how they are being inspired instead of what camera they want to buy. Great shots, and a really great read! thanks! eyad_mansour1
I agree with the earlier advise to add the 85mm 1.8; although I own some expensive 2.8 zooms, the 50mm 1.4 and 85mm 1.8 never leave the bag. Chech this picture out; its with 85mm 1.8; almost un-changed except for a little cropping.
graham john miles
Coincidentally I just put my 50mm 1.8 on my Nikon D70S yesterday. The camera has been sitting in my bag unused for several weeks, I seem to have more fun with my Fuji F30. The D70S and the 18-70 zoom seems just too big and chunky to pull out on a whim. Immediately with the 50mm the camera felt more accessible. Back in the film days I never even had a zoom lens shooting exclusively with fast primes. It's good to get back to basics once in a while. red_buckner
I took this shot with the 50mm 1.8 AIS on film. The photo illustrates, I think, the qualities of the lens:<div></div>
david.elliott
Thank you all for your comments. I'd reply individually, but I am really tired so it is off to sleep. Thanks again.
ken_schroeder
My 50mm1.8 lives on my D70, as has my old reliable 85mmf2 on the F (and the Nikon M200 on the 4x5). I agree with the comments about compactness, lightness and quality. I like the perspective the lens offers. It enables me to be somewhat specific without removing the subject from the context. It fits my vision, and apparently fits many others as well. Keep up the good work, David. Ken
myattphotoandfotoart39
I have my 50/1.8 for almost 20 years. I do not have the 1.8d. I would like to have the 85mm but I do not have. I usually use the 105/2.8 macro. I have never owned a zoom. The 105/2.8 and 180/2.8 ED for me produce the sharpest images. What is the difference in 50/1.8d lens from from the 50/1.8 that I have I have?
