Shot on M (for Manual). Shutter speed at minimum of 1/250, higher is better. Aperture as big (lowest number) as possible. ISO at 1600 or higher.

 

Dependent on camera, lens, etc.

 

Don't forget the white balance. Juding from your question, you are not experienced, so will likely have to rely on using auto white balance. If you have some comfort with computers, then the suggestion would be to shoot RAW so that you can fix many of the horrible results in post-processing.

What camera, lens etc are you using?

 

Now, where are you going to be sitting/standing during the game?

 

What age are players. High school players are faster thatn middle school, clooege and pros faster still again. So, faster shutter speed needed.
