warwick_hall
Hello all, I use Cs2, and have wondered what are the advantages to also owning lightroom. What does it do that Cs2 does not? How benificial is it to wedding work? Thankyou, Warwick
ellis_vener_photography
"What does it do that Cs2 does not?" Better raw processor, a better "capture sharpening" option (very similar to the Expert Sharpener portion ofthe $99 Photokit Sharpener plug-in) and it has a built in catalog and archive capabilities. "How beneficial is it to wedding work?" Once you know how to use it can greatly speed up your workflow.
bernie_beckerman
As with the previous post... the workflow is much quicker. In fact, after you get fast enough with it you can actually put together a pretty reasonable slideshow to present during the reception if you decide not to spend your whole time eating. Check out the following link for a bunch of tutorials on it. It was these tutorials that really sold me on the program. http://www.whibalhost.com/_Tutorials/Photoshop_LR/01/
mark_parker2
I'd give up Photoshop before I gave up Lightroom. Sure there are lots of things that Photoshop does that Lightroom does not... But after getting lightroom, I only use photoshop on about 5% of my images. Lightroom touches 95% of my images.
meldell
Why don't you download the 30 day free trial and find out if its for you? Thats what I did, and I cut my workflow time in half!
jonj
I never used PS I hated it... Lightroom is fast and very detailed in it's adjustments I shoot Jpeg and Lightroom seems to adjust them like they where RAW. One thing I noticed is when you deal with other programs you get tired and tend to let your photos slip by because of long post processing. Lightroom lets you pay attention to each photo and process it fast!
kiva
I've tried lightroom and don't find it particularly smooth or fast. Using Capture One Phase One to process raw then finish processed files in CS3 gives me better workflow results.
daniellane
This is a tutorial series for Lightroom 1.0 (I am not affiliated with the site in any way.) http://www.whibalhost.com/_Tutorials/Photoshop_LR/01/ It is worth the time to go through if you're thinking about getting Lightroom. As a side note, let me say that I originally had no use for LightRoom. In fact, since I had PSCS2 I really thought that there was no need for it. So I D/L'd the free trial, and saw the above tutorial. LightRoom has since increased the efficiency of my work flow enough that it has replaced PS for 90% of my post processing.
