keith_lubow
Hello, I am curious as to whether anyone has a suggestion for a starting developing time for Efke 400 35mm film in HC-110 dilution B. Data sheets only give a time for straight D-76/ID-11 at 7:30 at 400, and 10:30 at 800. HC-110 is my prefered developer, however. I have not tested this film at all, just shooting for fun to see if I like the images before getting into it any further. I am all set with the testing and such on Tri-X 320 sheet film, but I am looking for a fast 35mm film now. Keith
janez_pelko
As far as I know, Efke 400 film is the same as Ilford HP-5. Best regards, Janez
25asa
That was the case in the past, but the current Efke 400 is told to be Agfa 400S.
keith_lubow
So what you are saying is that there is no point in using the Efke 400 over Tri-X or HP5? Where is the info on the relabelling from? I am a user of Efke's low-speed sheets, and I love them in both 4x5 and 2x3. The only thing keeping me from switching over to them entirely from Tri-X 320 is that they can't really be pulled very well, and I love the speed of the Tri-X. I was hoping that the Efke 400 would be a faster version of the same emulsions as the 25, 50, and 100. I guess not. In that case, I will just use Tri-X rollfilm. keith_lubow
Hello, I contacted Freestyle and talked to someone who told me that it is relabelled Agfa APX 400. Too bad. Thanks for the help, Janez and Scott Keith
