henrik.ploug
If you don't mind carrying 1670g plus camera weight, the 28-300 mm should be a fine lens. Personally I would choose two or three lenses, for examle the 24-105mm f4 IS (670g) and the 70-200mm f4 IS (760g).

marknagel
17-55EFS won't fit on a 10D. I'd recommend the 24-70L and 70-200Lis. Mark

If you can afford the cost difference, that is my recommendation as well. Happy shooting,Yakim.
sheryl_bury_michals
HL, I have the Canon 100-400 IS USM, and used it quite a bit on my 10D for 2 years before I upgraded to a 30D (I still have my 10D though)- great for fast moving people, sports, wildlife. Not sure if you have a set budget, but if price isn't an option, get it. If you want something a tad lighter, some of the ones others mentioned would be better for your needs. I also used my Canon EF 75-300 with it and it worked fine as well, and it's quite a bit lighter. sheryl
