Extract EXIF data on picture upload?

I personally enter as much exposure data as I can for the images I upload to my gallery here. I'd love to

see that information pulled out automatically from the EXIF data, though, when the image is uploaded.

 

It's all there, and all accessible, and a wealth of potential information for photographers. Of course, you'd

have to put in an option to prevent it from being displayed for those photographers who would rather it

not be disclosed for their images...

Many members use the PShop "Save for web" function that strips the upload of this data; saves on file size.

We will be working on supporting EXIF data after we get our infrastructure straightened out.

A lot of DSLRs have their body serial number stamped onto its EXIF data. Unless you want everybody to know your serial number, and perhaps someone with way too much time in their hand may report your serial number as "stolen," I would strip that info from the EXIF. (E.g., if somehow your camera's serial number appears on the list of stolen cameras, you may have some unnecessary trouble selling it.)

I presume only a subset of the EXIF data would be extracted by photo.net, but if it's there in the image, anyone can read it of course.
