robert watcher
I have just been contacted by a member of the Dutch Lacrosse Team that will be participating in the 2006 World Lacrosse Championships in London Ontario this July: www.2006worldlacrosse.com/ . . . and am wondering if there is anyone here who has had experience shooting these type of events professionally (not necessarily lacrosse) and what complications if any there can be especially if the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation is covering the event. Also if anyone has a rough idea of photographic rates that would be normal to cover such events? Any help appreciated before I make my reply to the team. keith_van_hulle1
Search here on the word "lacrosse". Seriously. We've had several threads in the last couple of months with shooting recommendations that any answer here would just be a rehash. And if you're properly credentialed by the team, there should be no complications unless you're trying to broadcast something.
John Crowe
That's funny I don't ever recall lacrosse being discussed here. You could look for soccer since it is kinda similar though I believe on a larger field and perhaps not quite so fast paced. For such a large event you will probably need a letter from the team that you can show to the event manager in order to get a press pass so that you can be on field level. I would approach the event manager or the appropriate person immdediately to find out what is required for the press pass. It might just be an easy thing to do. As for fees I have no idea and I don't think you'll find much here. Depends on the number of days and the number and types of shots they want. Do they want some team shots, do they want lots of action shots for each player, do they want them organized by player on CD? I would think it should be a pretty hefty bill! 2yellowdogs
Try here for the most recent thread.
Since you've been invited by one of the teams, credentialing should be taken care of. As long as you have the right equipment, your biggest problem will be getting a good shooting position on the sidelines that doesn't interfere with television. I find the best spots to be about halfway between the center line and the goal. From there, farther toward the corner is better than more toward the center.
Good luck, have fun and please post some samples here.
