For everybody going to Australian Open in January

I have asked the organisers what are the rules and this is the reply

Thank you for your enquiry.

 

You are welcome to take photos of players during the tournament,

however

there is no flash photograhy, video cameras or handy cams allowed.

You are

not permitted to bring in tripods, monopods or lenses with a total

focus

strength of more than 200mm.

However, there is nothing on teleconverters. If I sneak in 2X

teleconverter this might be the easy way to get my 200mm lense to

400mm. What do you think.

Sure, depending on what you shoot, a Canon 200 f1.8 USM or Nikkor 200 f2 VR will be great as starter, then a matched 2xTC will be like icing on the cake.

Thanks for this information, I think the best way is to take the 2X, but you can also ask for an accreditation at the press center, for the practice days, to carry your 400 and monopod (with some argumentation...)
