The Olympics is an event that captures many images of different

significance. The image of the two American medal winners give the

black-power salute during the national anthem at the Olympics in

Mexico City a controversial images captured at the Olympics. Does

anyone no of anymore of famous happenings were photography captured

controversial moments other than sporting ones at the Olympics.<div>00A3Xy-20375584.jpg.362f004991f4c315c6ecf0b59888fe88.jpg</div>

BTW, not a phtograph, but a newsreel moment- the other day, I was watching, I think, the History Channel. As part of a show on the beginnings of WWII in Germany, there was footage of the opening ceremonies at the 1936 Munich Games.

Particularly stunning was the entry of the French Olympic Team. The whole team gave the "Heil Hitler" arm salute to Adolf Hitler, who was in the stands. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised, given France's later colabortion with the Nazis; but it was still some startling footage.

I've always found the image of Hassiba Boulmerka, who won Olympic gold in the 1992 women's 1500 meter race, screaming "Algeria! Algeria!" during her victory lap to be a bit haunting.

It's not anti-Islamic bias. I just couldn't help thinking what she'd had to overcome to be allowed to dress like other athletes and compete effectively.

And, yeh, her enthusiasm was a bit eye-popping. But in a good way, from this spectator's perspective.
