Jobo 2800 Tanks w/Cog - Stopper?

I bought a number of Jobo 2800 tanks and got two tops. The tops have

been converted to cogs for use with the Jobo lift.

 

I asked Jobo if the cogs could be removed and the answere was no.

You risk breaking the top if you try to remove the cog.

 

Since I will be using magnets to couple my tanks with my CPE2 Plus

processor (I don't have the lift and don't plan on getting one) I

thought I would have to buy new tops. Then it occured to me, why not

just use a plain old rubber stopper to seal the tank? I bought two

1.25 x 1 inches rubber stopers at Home Depot which seal the top

perfectly.

 

Question: Since the normal Jobo tops have a membrane that will pop

out to alow for gas expansion, am I at risk using stoppers to seal

the tank? I will be making RA4 colour prints.

 

Does the tank top pop often with RA4 process? Or will I be fine.

 

I'd hate to buy new tops when a plain old stopper would work.

The tops without the gear have a leak tight/ air tight seal cap. You should have no trouble with your invention. Good luck and enjoy it.

I removed the cog from my 2500 series lid by using a hairdryer to heat the area around the seal and then puling it off. YMMV though!

I spoke with Jobo USA today and they said I should be ok with the rubber stopper. Seems that simlpe works!
