bill_turnbull
Often I provide assistance by shooting for a local sports photographer who shoots running races, bicycle races, high school sports (basketball, baseball, wrestling, etc) and community ahtletic events. The photographer and I often split the course / field with him taking one side and I another. The photographs are then posted on his website for sale. I get an hourly fee and turn all photographs (via his flash cards) over to him at the end of the races. I am not involved in the sale of the pictures afterwards. How much should I be expecting or asking for per hour? Generally the sessions are 3-4 hours but sometimes and most recently all day events. jlobb
I do essentially the same thing for a photographer here, it's a great way to get started. However we strictly do equestrian events where I can expect to be shooting for at least 10 - 15 hours a day. He pays me a flat fee per day of $200 and the events usually last 2 - 3 days. If I were you I'd work out soemthing similar, just ditch the whole "hourly" deal and ask for a flat daily fee. For 3-4 hours of shotting I'd ask for $75. But I'm cheap.
