mike_prevette
Forgive my ignorance, but I'm not totally up to speed on all the RAWconversion softwear out there. Have any of you found an optimal sollution? _mike

KenPapai
Phase One C1 software looks pretty nice. I've not seen it mentioned here before now. <p> http://www.phaseone.com/Content/Software/PROSoftware/10%20Good.aspx
jimstrutz
The new kid on the block is Pixmantec's RawShooter Essentials. Some people are raving about it. It's new & it's free, so expect some bugs. Still, the little I've used it, it seems to be very good. http://www.pixmantec.com/products/rawshooter_essentials.html
tom_swanson
Phase One's Capture One is very nice. It does good conversions and has a great workflow. (Which will take a while to learn.) Phase One is a pretty irritating company. Lots of people like the free RAW Shooter Essentials. (I've had really bad luck with it.) Canon's DPP is very nice. Adobe's Camera RAW is nice. Better for one off conversions but still nice. (Beware the contrast slider. Watch your shadows.) Bibble is supposed to be nice. Its demo didn't go well for me so I don't know much about it. DxO is okay. But not really why you buy it. (That reminds me, I need to uninstall some demos.) There are others. I prefer C1. Go download some demos. david_lau3
Canon DPP is nice and free with 20D. I cannot see how I can justify the extra cost of C1.
suman
Just a quick question, how is the breezebrowser's RAW converter compared to others?
hkbmac
Bibble and Photoshop CS both work great. Phase one too way too long to support the 20d, they lost my business.
johannes_minkus
Capture One LE (for $99) ist great. I work with this program for more than a year and like it a lot! Michael Tapes is a great dealer (www.rawworkflow.com) who provides excellent support. Johannes
jespdj
BreezeBrowser uses the Canon libraries for RAW conversion, so the results should be more or less the same as with the Canon software.
vandit
I've tried C1LE, Rawshooter and ACR, and I still prefer ACR. The workflow of CS1 and Rawshooter is definitely better - you can do all your adjustments in one program, and not have to do a whole lot in PS. But I seldom need to do high-volume work, and for me, ACR gives the best renditions. C1 and RSE both are too cool for my tastes and I often really have to crank the temperature slider to get the look that I want. Vandit
chiswick_john
ACR is the only one that alows you to correct CA (as far as I know) -batch processing is doddle when you figure it out and it integrates with the file browser very well. I guess if you don't have PS it's an expensive RAW processor.
garry_marshall
The link below might help scroll down to "Sharpness and detail" comparison between C1 and Rawshooter http://www.outbackphoto.com/artofraw/raw_18/essay.html
andrew_bradnan
I like DxO Optics Pro. Way faster than the PS plugin and the correction is pretty amazing. Luckily the 20D doesn't qualify for the Elite version (which is a tad more).
df-gallery
<p>Have been using C1 for some time now, have also used DxO. But I found the workflow and paradigm of C1 to best suite me. I generally only process a limited number of photos, but even then, I find it a very fluid process. Since I am only using LE, the batching has a limit of 10 images. But that means that you can have a maximum of 10 unprocessed and processing images in the queue at any one time. But your queue can be longer. Just make sure you remove from the queue, processed images. So for me, its fine. The results are great, and I rarely have to do much post processing. </p> <p>You could also try using Photoshop Elements 3, as that includes RAW and 16-bit (but not in adjustment layers). It is comparable in price to C1LE. I use both in tandem, and it is an excellent low cost RAW to print solution.</p>
