Edwin Barkdoll
I know this has been written about quite a few times, and I have read many of the posted comments/opinions. Nevertheless, I am hoping to generate a whirlwind of responses which so clearly point to a superlative repair shop that I will not have any second thoughts (!!!). Seriously, I am in Maine but since I will be mailing it anyway, location is not particularly important. Nikon Repair seems to get rather lackluster feedback as did KEH. I have had good experience purchasing used equiopment from KEH so was disappointed to read the KEH feedback. Thanks. Test

Matthew Currie
I've had good results on F's and other brands from Vermont Camera Works in Pittsford, VT. Among other things, they seem to be good at sticking to their estimate. You could contact them and see what they have to say. http://www.vermontcamera.com/

aguilabrava
DO NOT SEND IT to Nikon USA in Melville, New York. They did a horrible job on mine... So horrible, that the third time I sent it back to them, directly to Mr. Glassberg, the boss at their Service Dept., they replaced the camera with a Nikon F5. I am happy now that they replaced the camera for me with a Nikon F5, but it was a hell of a nightmare because my F3HP was mint, it only needed to be CLA'd, I loved it and had many accessories for it that I cannot use with the F5. I'm just waiting for the right moment to get another F3HP in great condition because as much as a like the F5, I can't be without my beloved F3HP that they ruined at Nikon USA, Melville. Regarding KEH, I sent a Hasselblad 250mm f/5.6 Sonnar lens that needed to be cleaned and fixed because the shutter wasn't working properly. After contacting them through email, they quoted me $185.00 to overhaul it. I got the lens back from them in working condition, but few months later I realized that the diaphragm blades were closing very slow. Then I sent it to David Odess and he had to replace many parts on the shutter and diaphragm to bring the lens back to working conditions. KEH didn't do a good job with it. David Odess, on the other hand, sent me the lens in brand new operating condition, I highly recommend him for Hasselblad equipment repairs (www.david-odess.com) because that's all he works on, but his work is definitely excellent. I used KEH recently to replace the light seals and mirror foam on a Nikon FM camera, and they did a good job, and I got the camera back in about two weeks, but after the experience with the Hasselblad lens, I wouldn't send anything needing a major repair there, other than light seals and mirror foam replacement.
