eddieli
Hi, I'm thinking about subscribing, but I could not find out how what is the storage or picture limit for signing up. You briefly mentioned that I'm allowed to upload "hundreds" of picture, but I wish to find out how many hundreds at what resolution or what is the storage limit? Thanks! stephen hazelton
I recently asked a similar question, if that is of help: http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00IKpE The site is intended as a way to upload and look at pictures, not as a way to store your files. If you actually have hundreds of photos uploaded, it gets to be a pain for anyone to look through them all. On the size of file, they allow reasonably large files but getting anything bigger than what we can view on the monitors out here is rather pointless and just invites unauthorized reproduction. Also read the Terms of Use, which says if they lose the files you've uploaded, tough. This hasn't ever happened to me, but keep it in mind before investing gobs of time in uploading files. bobatkins
I don't know if there's ever been a defined and published hard limit on the number of images you can store or the maximum image size or the total amount of storage space you can use as a subscriber. However as Stephen says, photo.net really isn't intended to be a file storage system it's a place to share images, so there's really no point uploading anything larger than about 1000 pixels wide since more than that won't fit on most people's monitor. I think the way it's worked in the past is that if you started to consume excessive resources, photo.net would let you know and you could purchase more space if you needed it. That was under the previous site administrator (Brian) though. Philip may have a different policy, but I don't think anything has been announced yet. A defined hard limit on total storage space probably wouldn't be a bad idea. If there already is one, it should probably be stated somewhere like the FAQ and on the subscription page (which currently it isn't).
seven
Suggested maximum sizing is 1024 pixels wide. Average upload is - at a guess - 100 to 200 kb. PN is not (yet?) a site to upload full res images for later download by customers.
Misha, for example, has over 1800 Photos in his gallery.
At Picture This we have over 800, the attachment shows we're well within our "unlimited" quota. bobatkins
You can find some guidelines here: http://www.photo.net/photo-posting-guidelines While the number of images is "unlimited", obviously it doesn't mean you can store 50 terrabytes of image data. Photo.net doesn't have that much disk space. I guess it just means you can store a hell of a lot...
