Which model 5x7 Technica is this?

IMHO, it seems to be an early version of the Super Technika V 13x18 (or a late one of Technika III).
The camera housing looks like a Technika III's with rangefinder, but without the two devices for fixing a strap on the top of the camera, as on late ST V.
Nevertheless a very nice piece. Congratulations if you can buy it.
Regards.

I also think it is a V since it has the ratchet to raise and lower the front standard. Plus, on the 5 X 7 didn't the double focusing knobs start on the V (unlike the 4 X 5 which started with version 5 of the III)? Another distinction is the a plastic tip for the ratchet....this would place it as an early V version while the later ones had a metal tip.

Well, it's up on Fleabay now as a model V, with lots more pictures, and my wishbone is throbing. Why in the world I would want this overweight, oversized, and eventually overpriced jewel I don't know. But ain't it lovely?

I very surely identify the camera as the one on ebay auction a few weeks ago ... and now in my possession, because I won the auction. I was very determined to win, too determined probably, because I paid it 3,050 USD. You are probably accostumed with ebay, I offered 3,500, while the second bidder offered 3,000 so I won with 3,050. I agrre that probably it is overpriced, a week later there was another 5x7 starting at 2,800, with 'buy now' option at 3,200. No one offered for the camera which went again on auction for 2,200, and finally closed at 2,325. This is probably closer to the real value of the camera than what I paid.

Anyway I'm very happy about the purchase. I posed a question in the forum explaining that I shoot panoramic photos with a Fuji GX 617 but I think it's better take a 5x7 and cut later the photo.

But the reason why the Technika 5x7 is a special camera, for me, is the following: it's the bigger camera ever produced you can use handheld.

About the weight, I think that considering the weight of the Fuji with 3 lens (105, 180 and 300) it isn't heavier.

My conclusion is: I strongly recommend you to buy one next time you can (for about 2,500 USD).

And finally, thank you for all the informations you obtained about the camera which, of course, are very useful also for me.

Congratulations Eugenio. You have my most sincere envy. (PS don't berate yourself for paying too much. The other one went cheap because the guy selling it is somewhat questionable, and frankly, I wonder if the buyer actually got delivery. I querried him about buying it with escrow, and he declined, so I took it off my list).
