joshchapman
The last thing I want to get into is legalities (I'm in high school, I don't make any money or plan to at the moment), but it's been thrust on me so here it goes:I've agreed to do publicity photos for a musical that has been written and produced by friends of mine. That's no problem, but we're getting the programs printed through one of the cast member's father's company, and so copyrights for anything in the photos becomes important. I've been told that even if I were to take a photo of a magnifying glass (this is a film noire/detective musical) I would need to have a release from it's manufacturer. Is this correct or is this just going to far? By the way, I live in Canada so if anyone knows the relevent Canadian law it would be greatly appriciated. wingedrabbit
Granted, I'm not a lawyer and I live in the USA. I would assume if you took the picture of the magnifying glass and Photoshopped any company name out, you would not have a problem. The magnifying glass company would not be able to prove it was theirs.
