patricks
Marc, is what you are saying about MF film/digital real estate really true? I asked the very same question at the MF forum http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=007Cm5 There seems to be a consensus that digital 35mm, even with physical limitations of 24x36 and smaller glass, will at some point be just as good or better than MF digital/film, and therefor render MF meaningless, unless you like that style/workflow?! What's your/other Leica users opinion? Cheers,
patricks
on the head of the topic - really... it is always time to buy/sell Leica M gear... or what the heck, just use them instead!
dominic_.
Yes, start getting rid of it immediatly, send it to me, for free of course, because most certainly one needs the most technologically advanced, multi-megapixel full from CMOS senosr DSLR to be able to make great photographs. Those retro Leica Ms you have are nothing but useless paperweights and ornaments that are past their prime. Remember, you need autofocus, 8fps, a 100-300 IF Aspherical 2.8 constant zoom (actually I wouldn't mind a lens like that) and 11 MP if you ever want to be a great photographer!!!;-) j/k

--Dominic

Sandeha Lynch
Just thinking ahead a little. How can I make my own 120 film? I guess I need some Rockland Liquid Light, but where can I get rolls of transparent plastic sheet? I better save all my spools too, and the backing paper ... Yeah, I feel sorry for those guys with 35mm, must be a real pain cutting sprocket holes.
._._z
We neither care nor want to care about what others do. ._._z
Film can completely disappear and the only obsolete kit I'll be stuck with is my M. But since I use the Ms almost exclusively for B&W work, I don't believe they'll be obsolete in my lifetime
Except that you have been selling off your Leica gear, in this forum. So, when Mani asks, "Would it be financially prudent to start selling off most of my film cameras and gear now?" should he do what you say or what you do? kelly_flanigan1
Panic is good for markets; it causes one to get good deals on tools; stocks; goods. Buying when stuff when it is out of favor; ie declared obsolete; worthless; old hat; sometimes will get one decent items; at fire sale prices. Chasing what is most popular often times is an expensive loss; if the tool is not used to increase ones income or productivity.

The trends in Photo tools have always been changing. I remember when a few local realtors sold their Nikon and Canon slrs; and went to APS or Sony Macvia. With the Sony; they just shoot their hous photos; and save the floppy in their file cabinet; along with the paper work on each house.
fotografz
"Except that you have been selling off your Leica gear, in this forum. So, when Mani asks, "Would it be financially prudent to start selling off most of my film cameras and gear now?" should he do what you say or what you do?" - AZ replies. The "Golden Toad" award to AZ for conspicuous bravery while jumping to conclusions. However, since I just took delivery of a brand new M7 0.85 Friday, and a Canon EOS 1V last week, and have kept all my MF film backs, that would make you WRONG now wouldn't it? Not only do I STILL have a nice range of Leica gear, I use it all. If I don't, I sell select pieces and get what I need to shoot with. I may sell either the 75 or the 90 in future, as I am finding them somewhat redundant for my use as of late. I've always done that... but now you would like to attach a different purpose to support your pathological "current events" argument. You sure like to cram your nose into other people's business don't you AZ? Pathetic.

Allen Herbert
You sure like to cram your nose into other people's business don't you AZ? Pathetic. AZ is protected by the modulaters, Mark. ._._z
Funny thing Marc, you sell gear here and I note it and that bug goes back up your butt. If you want to set the record straight, fine, but your own pathetic, defensive insults don't help you any. Still, it's amusing to see you wriggle around and spew. fotografz
Az, your implication that I was bailing on film was clear. And the implication was incorrect. No amount of double talk on your part elevates that. Other people may let you inflict your personal pathology on them, but I won't. I'll call you on it every time when you stick your probing, sniffing nose into my business by blatantly implying or suggesting something concerning me that isn't true. vic_.
[ Z (Bailey Seals), you haven't been the same since you switched from Playtex to Tampax. You spend too much time attacking everyone on photo.net. Just look at all your postings here and everywhere else, and there is a consistent theme: your constant need to "win" every argument, regardless of the facts or logic. Classic signs of a sociopath. Get a life! Or at least, get a social life, take a break from the internet. You're an addict. PS. You only rated 500 pics this month, lower than your 800 average for 50 months in a row (or a grand total of 40,510 so far). What's with that? dennis_couvillion
"Uh oh, the spiders are talking to Allen again. He must have forgotten his meds." Uhhh, no, Bailey... Actually, those of us who know and love Allen have hidden his medication. When he takes his medication he turns into a petty, vindictive, bitchy, megalomaniacal bore. God knows we don't need another one of those around here. ;>) Dennis

Black
Funny how you repeatedly post insults about sexual orientation and sexual identitt (most of them subsequently deleted by moderators); clearly you have personal issues that you are working out in public, and funnier still how you decry personal attacks while you make personal attacks. ROFLMAO. vic_.
Bailey, Here you go again! You omit all your trespasses, and only point out mine, which, by the way, were in response to your arrogant ad hominem attacks, something that you have refined into an art form. Your posts that started the exchanges were deleted, so try and be factual, instead of spinning your usual illogical logic. PS. If you want to get historical, it was you who initially started attacking me, and I called you on it. Selective memory won't help you. Travis, I'm chilling from now on, I'll let Bailey continue on his public infantile rants. The tragedy is that he knows a lot about photography (both techincal and aesthetic), but chooses to be an arsehole in his communication methods. It's one thing to be arrogant if one has put up a lot of fine photographs, but this fellow has nothing to show. Read his posts in other forums on photo.net, and ask yourself why he is the most disliked person on photo.net. People chastise him time and again, something that does not happen to anyone else. He sows what he reaps. Talk about personal issues. Pot. Kettle. Black.

dennis_couvillion
Bart, Bart, Bart... Tsk, tsk, tsk.. As an American, an artsy New Yorker and a photo.net member, Bailey is entitled to voice his phtographic opinions, regardless how repellently he may express himself. And you know what they say about opinions: they're like a**holes; everybody's got one. (Perhaps you haven't heard the corollary: even a**holes have opinions.) I am just shocked and dismayed the way everyone is picking on poor Bailey on this forum. It hardly gives him time anymore to fight with people on other fora. Let's give poor Bailey a break. In that regard, Tony and Josh, I propose a new forum rule: Bailey gets the last word. Always. Whenever Bailey posts, no one is allowed to post after him. That way we can all get along. ..and that's the truth. ;>) Dennis
