3.
Hey JJ,
If they are the only lens choices, I would go with the 50. At some point, try to add a 24-70 to your arsenal. If I only had one lens, it would be the 24-70. You can shoot almost anything with that lens.
If you are doing this as a favor, just take the 50 1.8 and do the best you can. I am sure you will do a great job

  4.
Have you tried lite panels? They are not cheap, but are very versatile. On many models you can vary the color temp of the light. They have spots and floods.

  5.
Ellis is absolutely right here. I have had a high end camera strap that screws into the tripod mount snap off. Fortunately, I was able to stop the fall of my camera with my foot. But YES, they do snap off. Do not trust any of these. If you do use them, use an extra tether cable as a safety back up. Trust me, THEY BREAK. Be very careful.

    Learning to Light 3

I think the lighting on her face looks great. The only thing I would add is a hair light. She has beautiful dark hair which is perfect for an additional hair light. in post, I would clean up her loose hairs a little bit If you want some tips how, email me and I will show you a really easy effective way to clean up stray hairs You did a great job on this.
