  1. I downloaded the new firmware from a Windows machine, and the downloaded file is a binary .bin file, not the previous .exe wrapper. Therefore, you just place the .bin file on the root (upper most) folder on the CFexpess card. Nikon has been using that new process the last couple of times. And I also did the upgrade twice, the second time to upgrade the GNSS (GPS) firmware version from 0.07 to 0.17.
  2. There is one more session scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 6pm EDT, which is GMT -4, hosted by Robert's Camera in Indianapolis. These sessions are never recorded. https://classes.robertscamera.com/event/the-z8-z9-set-up-to-step-up-buttons-dials-menus-and-settings/?fbclid=IwAR3VbHQATAld01l5TLpugwXFZfCT_EV3Lbvngboq9yG5ZT08ELU1vgJBXQg

  4. My wife and I were walking in a regional park, and she noticed that this young woman had a cat in her backpack. My wife talked to her briefly, and she said that is a convenient way to take a cat to the park. That seems to be a fairly big cat for the backpack, but the cat still had room to move around inside.
  5. I just updated the thread subject, and it says Zf now. I have four different Nikon Z bodies but have no Zf. I just checked all of them (Z6, Z6ii, Z8, and Z9), and none of them makes any sound when I rotate them from landscape to portrait, but I have removed all lenses and FTZ adapters, and I also hold onto those strap lugs to make sure that they don't make any sound.
  6. Note: Consider keeping uploads no larger than 1600 pixels on the long side when it matters, and sticking with 1000 pixels when the image feels no pain at that resolution. On data size/compression, try to keep things under 1mb, shooting for 600kb when you can stop there. Note that this includes photos hosted off-site (at Flickr, Photobucket, your own site, etc.). New to this thread? The general guidelines for these Wednesday threads are right here: https://www.photo.net/forums/topic/398109-guidelines-for-nikon-forum-wednesday-image-threads. For now, we're sticking with 1, 2, or 3 images per week as you see fit.
  7. The Nikon D4, D4s, D5, D6, and Z9 can share batteries. However, since the size of the grip is different from mirrorless as the body is considerably thinner, they require a different battery chamber cover. My D5 uses the BL-6 (green) but the Z9 uses the BL-7, yellow. You can see the shape is different. You need this cover to hold the EN-EL18* battery in place.
  8. Thom Hogan also has comments on this deal: https://bythom.com/newsviews/nikon-acquires-red.html
  9. I am merely reusing Nikon company news' title. It is not quite a done deal yet, but it seems close and a very interesting development: https://www.nikon.com/company/news/2024/0307_01.html
