1. So, here in Tucson, Arizona, USA, tap water comes out of the faucet at about 90-100 degrees (32c). I've been developing my film in 68 degree distilled water, fixing at room temperature (about 72 degrees), but my stop bath and wash are with tap water. I've been noticing that even ISO 100 film looks grainy. Might this be a bit of reticulation from the heat? Does the temperature of the bath really matter? Thoughts?
 2.
I just acquired some Colortran LQF 6 650w spots with barn doors and stands and want to use them for portrait lighting. However, they are open face units and I believe in safety first. I usually will use lights such as this with a diffusion screen of some sort, but in the rare event of a bulb explosion, will that be sufficient protection.

Ideally, I'd like to put some wire mesh on the face of the can. But I can't find any mesh at the photo supply places that isn't specifically designed for a proprietary light. Is there any mesh that's suggested for this use that I can custom cut for my lights?
Any other suggestions? Perhaps I should just bounce them into umbrellas, but of course, then, people might be in danger back of camera.

This is what the lights look like: http://www.terapeak.com/worth/colortran-vintage-multi-beam-studio-flood-spot-light-lqf-6-usg/272031656692/
